Carol Noonan
Carol Noonan is an American folk singer/songwriter from New England, USA.
She began her career as the lead singer and songwriter for the band Knots and Crosses. "Crosses" was formed in the late 1980s by Carol Noonan (vocals, guitar), Alan Williams (keyboards, vocals) and Rick Harris (guitar, vocals) all were students at the New England Conservatory of Music at one time. They built a significant following around Boston and the New England area. After a major-label bidding war led to a failed deal with Island Records, the group disbanded.
Noonan went on to do three solo albums for the Philo/Rounder label through 1997. The "Carol Noonan Band" featured Duke Levine and Kevin Barry on guitars. They have stayed with her for most of her live performances over the years as well as all her albums. Since her time with Rounder she has released a number of albums on her own label carolnoonanmusic.com. An NPR darling for her music, she has also been a guest essayist on ''Weekend Edition'', and been included on one of their Driveway Moments compilations.
She is married to a commercial fishing net builder Jeff Flagg who together they run the Stone Mountain Arts Center, a music hall behind their house in rural Maine.
== Stone Mountain Arts Center ==

In 2006 she pulled off what seemed to be the impossible and put up a music hall called the Stone Mountain Arts Center behind her 200-year-old farmhouse in rural Brownfield, Maine. Since its inceptions national acts Like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Richie Havens, Aaron Neville, Joan Armatrading and Bela Fleck have graced the stage as well as Noonan who does a once a month musical jamboree show called ''Stone Mountain LIVE.'' With a top notch house band, featuring guitarists Duke Levine and Kevin Barry, the show has attracted guests from Noonan’s past and present music life national and otherwise.
The Stone Mountain Arts Center is a family affair with Carol (when she is not performing)and Jeff in the kitchen and sister Katy in the office."SMAC" as locals refer to it, love it for its intimacy and personal touch. The audience gets an up close and personal concert experience (the hall holds under 200)and the performer gets the royal treatment..their green room is now world famous. Noonan has a unique insight to what musicians on the road will need and how to make them happy.
